Few visitors choose to stay in the eastern part of Singapore, mainly because it's far from the city's main attractions and the Geylang/Joo Chiat area has a reputation for sleaze. It does, however, afford a different perspective on Singapore for those seeking a bit of "real Asia", and the pace is certainly gentler. The East Coast area is also very pleasant - and the main attraction of staying out here would be the chance to end every day among the cooling breezes of East Coast Park.
