Aeroflot (Аэрофло́т; literally "air fleet"), or, Aeroflot — Russian Airlines (Russian:Аэрофлот — Российские авиалинии), is the Russian national airline and the biggest carrier in Russia.
It is a member of the SkyTeam Alliance. It was also the national airline of the Soviet Union and was once the largest airline in the world. It is based in Sheremetyevo International Airport in Moscow (with corporate headquarters next to Aerostar Hotel, central Moscow). As of 2005, Aeroflot serves over 80 foreign destinations in almost 50 countries.
Annually, Aeroflot has a revenue of US$1,150 million, carries 5.0 million passengers and has 14,800 employees.
Destination Cities
Aeroflot has an extensive international network to 135 destinations in 70 countries, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In addition to serving most European and CIS capitals, the airline also flies intercontinental routes to the Middle East and Far East, Africa, and to North America, Central America and South America. In Russia's Far East, services link Khabarovsk and San Francisco, and Irkutsk to Niigata and Shenyang.
