Aerolitoral began operations in 1991 with Fairchild Metro III/23 airplanes. It soon positioned itself as the most important regional airline and the third largest fleet in Mexico. Aerolitoral has operating bases in Monterrey (Nuevo Leon), Guadalajara (Jalisco) and in Chihuahua (Chihuahua).
In order to meet the growing demand of the market, as well as offering more convenience to its passengers, Aerolitoral has a fleet of 32 turboprop airlines that enables it to offer more than 7,000 flights.
Aerolitoral's concept of regionalizing markets is an effective answer for the traveler who needs to fly to destinations not covered by the larger airlines, especially for business travelers who need to make the best possible use of their time.

History
Initially two companies operated as Aerolitoral and had the same brand and airplanes (Metro III/23):-
- Servicios Aereos Litoral S.A. de C.V.” (which developed the Monterrey Hub)
- Aerovias de Poniente S.A. de C.V.” (which developed the Guadalajara @ Chihuahua hubs).
In January 1995, the companies were merged and the Management was concentrated in Monterrey, the hubs were integrated in the same year.
In 1998, the airline integrated to its fleet 6 SAAB-340 airplanes for 33 passengers, in order to improve the service and reduce the cost per seat-kilometer (ASK). As a result of fleet evolution, Aerolitoral replaced the Metro fleet with SAAB-340B’s, this process finished in December 2003.
