Air Dolomiti Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Air Dolomiti was founded in 1989 by the Leali steel group, with a view to diversifying in the light of the imminent liberalisation of the air transport market in Europe.

It started business in 1991 in the regional air transport with the objective of developing direct flights services in Europe from airports in business- or tourism- oriented towns and cities with medium-sized populations, in markets excluded from major carriers' services and placing special emphasis on flight frequency and times and the standard of service.

The company mission of Air Dolomiti right from the start was to win the challenge of air transport deregulation in Europe. To achieve this objective, the company set up its own maintenance structure to guarantee regular, punctual flights, and its own catering structure, to ensure that the on-board product would be of high quality and in line with its own standards.

The attention paid to quality and style, the philosophy based on a warm welcome and on-board hospitality, the major attention paid to the quality of the service and the notion of Italian culture brought to Europe are the values that distinguish the company.

All the on-board personnel, and the cabin crew in particular, who are given top level professional training by Air Dolomiti, play a major role in the total quality approach to the passengers. Air Dolomiti has become the most important Italian inter-regional air carrier, and is confirmed as a European organisation capable of competing with the leading international operators.

Thanks to the opening of the new Terminal 2 in Munich, Air Dolomiti strengthens its role of Italian Airline point of reference for Lufthansa and Star Alliance Partners offering numerous flight in Europe from the major Italian airports.

Since April 2003 Air Dolomiti is controlled by Lufthansa. Michael Kraus is the new CEO and Managing Director, with a career of 25 years in Lufthansa.

During the year 2003 Air Dolomiti has become a member of Lufthansa Regional, a strategic cooperation between five regional European airlines (Air Dolomiti, Augsburg Airways,Contact Air, Eurowings, Lufthansa CityLine). The new brand has been created to increase the Lufthansa network value.

To guarantee the air worthiness of its aircraft, the Company has its own technical department, certified by ENAC, which operates primarily at the Triest airport where the Air Dolomiti has its own hangar and a spare parts warehouse. The Company has additional technical support, through its own personnel, available at the Verona and Munich airports.

Destinations

Air Dolomiti is currently the most important Italian organisation in the inter-regional air transport sector, and confirms its position as a company of European dimensions, capable of competing with the leading international operators.

With Air Dolomiti, you can reach more than 300 destinations in Europe and the rest of the world, as a result of the connections with the Lufthansa network via Munich and Frankfurt.

Air Dolomiti operates feeder (flights to hub airports for purposes of permitting passengers to connect with flights operated by other carriers) and point to point (flights servicing a direct route not directly oriented to permit connections with other flights) flights.

Feeder flights are centred on the Munich, Frankfurt and Vienna hubs. These flights are scheduled to minimize waiting times for connections with flights operated primarily by Lufthansa and other Star Alliance airline companies.

Air Dolomiti can offer a really complete network through these flights to Frankfurt, Vienna and Munich, which is the second hub of Lufthansa. This airport is one of the most modern airport in the Europe with more than 24 millions passengers in 2003. With the new terminal 2, dedicated exclusively to Star Alliance companies, the airport will increase further the capacity.
