Claypot Rice Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Claypot Rice is one of the favourite dinner dish for Singaporeans. The rice is first cooked in the claypot with strong fire first. Once the rice is ready, the seasoned & cooked diced chicken is added in, together with vegetables and slices chinese sausage. Dark soya sauce is added in for flavor. The claypot rice is cooked for a while before it is served.

What is a good Claypot Rice? The chicken should definitely be tender. Dark soya sauce must compliment the taste of the Claypot Rice. And most importantly, the rice should be close to the claypot should be burnt but not to the extent of charcoal black. The slightly burnt rice together with the dark soya sauce would create an aroma that would definitely whet one's appetite. The tenderness of the chicken eaten with the slightly burnt rice makes this a definite must-try in your itinerary when you visit Singapore.

One must note that diner should mix the rice, chicken and dark sauce well so that every mouthful would contain a bit of each.
