Curry Puff is a Singaporean snack of Malay origin. As the names says, the main ingredient of curry puff is the curry. Curry with other ingredients like chicken or sardines and chunks of potatoes serve as a filling wrapped with dough. The dough with curry fillings are then deep fried till golden brown. Note that the fillings are already pre-cooked before they are placed inside the dough.
Besides curry, the main ingredients would be potatoes. For Malay-style curry puff, it is either potatoes with chicken or sardines.
A good curry puff is one where the crust is not too thick and it is crispy. The curry should not be too spicy. The potatoes should be well cooked as well.
Some Chinese stalls and bakeries in Singapore have started selling Chinese-style curry puff as well. For Chinese-style curry puff, the skin is usually thicker and it can be quite filling as well. And most of the time, a quarter of an egg is added in to give more variety in taste.
