Today Dar es Salaam's harbour is still fringed with palms and mangroves, and Arab dhows and dug out canoes mingle with huge ocean-going vessels The port has also becomes the biggest cargo handling hub on the Eat African coast, serving clients as far afield as Malawi and Zambia via the Tazara Railway.
