Founded in 1992 in the UK, Fitness First was created with the objective of developing a chain of health and fitness clubs to focus on delivering the concept of high quality clubs that offer value for money. Today in the UK, Fitness First has 166 clubs in operation.
In June 2000, Fitness First announced expansion plans into Asia through the acquisition of Sportathlon Holdings Ltd., a Hong Kong based company and in September of the same year, Fitness First continued its growth with the acquisition of 11 Healthland International clubs in Australia. Collectively the Asia Pacific business now has 98 clubs, with Fitness First Australia being the market leader in Australia whilst in Asia, Fitness First dominates most of the markets with 45 clubs. The 1st Fitness First club in Singapore was opened in September 2003 at The Paragon, with overwhelming response. Today, there are 5 clubs operating in Singapore and more on the way!
