France is the pride of Europe. The French territory, which includes 22 administrative regions or departments, is bordered by the English Channel, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg to the north, Switzerland to the east, Italy, the Mediterranean Sea and Spain to the south, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. France covers 547,026 km² (211,212 sq mi) and today has a population of approximately 60 million inhabitants.
