Harvest Thai

Harvest Thai - A school is probably the last place you would expect to find good food, let alone a pool-side restaurant. Owned by four parents of Anglo-Chinese School (Barker Road) students, the eatery is housed in the school's sports complex and is where students get their fix of fish and chips or chicken nuggets during the day.
Come evening, cloths and cutlery are laid on the wooden tables and the place is converted into a restaurant called Harvest Thai. This spacious, simply-decorated joint draws a steady stream of diners, many of whom are regulars.
No doubt, what keeps them coming back is the excellent Northern Thai Cuisine prepared by Chef Suradech Sumahingphan.
Apart from the usual desserts, you would expect to find at a Thai Restaurant, you can also round off your meal at Harvest Thai with fresh ice cream from Haato.
Owned by a former ACS student, this local gelato company produces preservative- and colouring-free treats that contribute to making Harvest Thai a family effort.
What's more surprising than the discovery of this eatery is the fact that the owners don't pocket a cent of its profit. Instead, the money earned is used to support school activities and mission trips organised by Barker Methodist Church, which is affiliated to the school.
Now, if there were more places like this, going to school would not seem so bad after all.
