Japanese Garden

Japanese Garden (Seiwaen) and Chinese Garden, which occupy 13 1/2 hectares in the vicinity of Jurong Lake, are a very pleasant place for an afternoon stroll, though by themselves they are not worth the trek from the city. These twin gardens surrounded by a man-made lake were the pride of Jurong when they were completed in the 1970s.
The 13-hectare Japanese Garden is designed according to Japanese gardens in the Middle Ages. It exudes a sense of peace and tranquility with its Zen rock gardens, stone lanterns, ponds and shrubs, and Japanese-style summer houses.
New jogging and cycling tracks, fitness and picnic areas, a jetty and a waterfront promenade are expected to draw more people to the two islets in the middle of the lake.
