Kallang - the part of the east coast closest to downtown - is dominated by a massive sports and entertainment complex. Major sporting events and National Day celebrations are staged in the huge National Stadium, while the wedge-shaped Singapore Indoor Stadium plays host to both sports and concerts. Kallang Theatre is the island's main venue for large stage productions, with visiting shows from London and Broadway.
