Katong Edit page

From Singapore Hotels & Singapore Lifestyle

Katong is an old suburb connected with Joo Chiat Road to East Coast Road. This area has long enjoyed a reputation for Food. A bit more gentrified in appearance these days, the neighbourhood, with its traces of Eurasian and Peranakan past, has not lost its old-world, laid-back atmosphere.

Heading west back to the city, just off East Coast Road is the Hindu Sri Senpaga Vinayagar Temple, and about a kilometre away the Sri Guru Nanak Sat Sangh Sabha Sikh Temple. East Coast Road changes its name to Mountbatten Road where it crosses Tanjong Katong Road, which leads back to Geylang and Paya Lebar MRT Station. Around here and Mountbatten Road, you'll see a number of grand bungalows dating from the early 20th century.
